Course Goal: 

This course aims to familiarize learners with US best practice in relation to working with sealed sources of radiation, and measures that should be taken to protect personnel from radiation exposure.

Who is the course for?

This eLearning course is aimed at individuals who work offshore, in any role, anywhere in the world.

Is previous experience required?

The course is designed for existing workers in the oil and gas industry. Completion of this course awards an IMIST certificate valid for four years, after which you will need to sit the course again to refresh your knowledge and earn a new certificate.

How will the course benefit me?

The offshore working environment is home to many hazards, which means that it is vital for everyone who goes offshore to have the same baseline level of safety knowledge. This course has been created with OPITO to set a global safety standard by applying a consistent level of safety awareness across nine safety critical areas and is applicable.

The knowledge gained in this course will help you to stay safe in your day-to-day activities offshore. It will also outline some of the systems and procedures in place to manage everyday operations offshore.

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 100%. 

The course starts with an optional pre-assessment that checks your existing knowledge of the course topics. The course will restructure so that it only contains the content needed to address the gaps in your knowledge.

Innholdet i kurset omhandler valg, kontroll og sikker bruk av de mest vanlige løfteredskap i bygg- og anlegg, industri, sjøfart og offshore.

Signalgivning, kommunikasjon og styring av last er sentrale emner i kurset.

Kurset forutsetter at det gjennomføres praktisk opplæring på aktuelt løfteredskap i tillegg.

Hver modul inneholder øvingsoppgaver, og 8 av modulene har avsluttende test med 10 spørsmål i hver modul.

Kurset gir kunnskap om farer ved hydrogensulfid og svoveldioksid, symptomer ved forgiftning og kunnskap om livreddende førstehjelp. Kursdeltakerne skal lære å ta vare på egen og andres sikkerhet ved riktig bruk av verneutstyr. Etter fullført kurs kan deltakerne arbeide i H2S-utsatte områder.

Our bodies react to stress by releasing chemicals into the blood to give us energy and strength to handle the situation. This evolutionary reaction can be a good thing when stress is caused by real physical danger; however, this survival response can wreak havoc if it builds up without a proper outlet. This interactive online course discusses signs and symptoms of stress, and explains the physical and emotional effects of built up stress, such as pain and anxiety. Dette kurset er bygget på krav i Forskrift om utførelse av arbeid, kapittel 17, som omhandler montering, demontering og endring av stillas.

Forskriften krever opplæring for ulike stillashøyder:
-2-5 meter: 7,5 timer teori og 7,5 timer praksis
-5-9 meter: 15 timer teori og 15 timer praksis
-Over 9 meter: 36 timer teori og 72 timer praksis.

Dette kurset dekker kravene om teoretisk opplæring for stillas opp til 9 meter, og tilsvarer kravene i Forskrift om utførelse av arbeid § 17-2 og 17-3 om teoretisk opplæring. I tillegg er det krav om 15 timer praktisk opplæring under tilsyn av kvalifisert person.
