An Introduction to Safety and Risk Management in Decommissioning

Course information

Target group:

Personnel working in or supporting late-life operations and offshore decommissioning, including operations, engineering, project, safety, assurance, maintenance, marine, subsea and contractor teams. The course is also relevant to supervisors, managers and others with responsibility for planning, coordinating or overseeing decommissioning activities.

Description:

This course introduces the principles of safety and risk management during
late-life operations and offshore decommissioning. Learners will build
awareness of how risk profiles change as an asset transitions from
production through the different stages of decommissioning, including the
management of major hazard and personal safety risks, safety case
updates and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
The course also covers risks associated with topsides and subsea removal,
schedule pressure, dropped objects and hazardous materials. It enables
learners to recognise the importance of effective safety leadership,
stakeholder engagement and informed decision-making in supporting safe
and controlled decommissioning activities
