An introduction to Offshore Oil and Gas Decommissioning

Course information

Target group:

Professionals and stakeholders working in, supporting or preparing to enter offshore oil and gas decommissioning. This includes personnel from operators, national oil companies, contractors, consultancies and supply-chain organisations, particularly those working in project, operations, planning, engineering, wells, commercial, procurement, environmental, safety and logistics roles.

Description:

This bundle of video-based eLearning courses provides a practical overview of the full offshore oil and gas decommissioning lifecycle, from cessation of production and regulatory planning through well plug and abandonment, de-energisation, engineering down and clean, infrastructure removal, materials management, site remediation and post-decommissioning monitoring.

Across 18 courses, learners build awareness of the technical, operational, safety, environmental, regulatory and commercial considerations that influence decommissioning project planning and execution. The bundle also covers contracting models, permitting, risk management, specialised tooling and the interfaces between the principal decommissioning workstreams.

The objective of this course is to provide learners with a broad understanding of the offshore oil and gas decommissioning lifecycle, enabling them to recognise the principal workstreams, interfaces, hazards, project risks and regulatory, technical, commercial and environmental considerations that influence effective project delivery.
