This training course provides a general introduction to the corrosion process, the protective coating used to prevent corrosion, the coating process and coating inspection.

Objectives

On completion of the training, students will be able to:

Know the different types of corrosion and their causes.

Understand the corrosion phenomenon and the threat it represents to the structural integrity.

Know the protective coating systems used in shipbuilding.

Be familiar with the constituents, structure and curing prerequisites of the protective coating systems.

Understand the different phases of the coating process and the requirements for successful coating application.

Be familiar with coating inspection procedures and the requirements of the IMO PSPC.

Recognise the different forms of coating failure.

On completion of the training program, the student will be awarded the following qualifications:

Certificate of Corrosion and Coating awarded by Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore.

The Certificate of Corrosion and Coating, issued by Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore, is obtained after completing the course and passing the qualification examination.

Anyone wanting to take the SRC/VHR-exam.

Is previous experience required?
You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role

Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%. 

This course includes all subjects needed to prepare candidates for the rotary drilling well control exam, surface and subsea BOP stack on driller level (Level 3).

A printed course manual and exercise book is provided for all attendees. The IWCF exam is included in the course.

The course has been made on basis of the recommendations for enhancements to well control training, issued by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP).

The object of this course is to help participants maintain and develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding their operational / emergency response function.

A representative selection of the content of the Small MOB Boat Basic Course adapted to participants’ previous knowledge, with major emphasis on practical training and drills.

This course is valid for 24 months.

Is there an assessment?

Yes

This course is taken externally on the Astutis platform, the delegate will receive a separate email from the provider with access details once this is processed by Astutis.

The enrolment will then be marked complete in Trainingportal once the course is passed.

At the beginning of the course you can take a pre-test, where you get the opportunity to show your skills. If you pass the pre-test, you do not have to go through the entire course.
