The object of this course is to help participants maintain and develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding their operational / emergency response function.

Course Content

Portions of this course will include group discussion and exchange of experiences, led by a helicopter pilot in active offshore service or with experience from offshore flying:

- Experiences from helideck service

- Improvement potential

Participants should also be able to: 

- Learn from the experience and incidents of other helideck personnel.

- Transfer their own experience as heliguards/HLO to other helideck crews.

This course is valid for 24 months.

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role

The object of this course is to provide participants with basic knowledge and skills regarding helicopter operations, for both normal and emergency operations on the helideck, including safety routines and accident prevention. Participants also receive training on the relevant fire, rescue and protective equipment found on the helideck.

- Laws and regulations

- Weather reporting, communication and routines

- Helideck regulations and guidelines

- Dangerous cargo

- Aviation fuel

- The responsibilities and tasks of the helideck crew during emergencies and abnormal operations

- The responsibilities and tasks of the helideck crew during normal operations

- Human factors

- Types of helicopters

- Fire theory

- The different extinguishing agents and their use

- Practice in fire fighting at a safety centre/school

This course is valid for 24 months.

Who is this course for:
Anyone wanting to take the SRC/VHR-exam.

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role

To use VHF you must have a VHF / SRC certificate. With this course you will learn the whole curriculum in a simple and easily understandable way.
