LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The course will enable the participants to handle normal as well as critical operations i.e.
• Communication
• Planning
• Use of crane emergency equipment
• Various lift operations under pressure
• Choice of correct actions if unwanted incidents occur

CONTENT

Theoretical part:
• Laws and regulations
• The safety functions of the crane
• The safe operation of offshore cranes
• Human factors
Simulator exercises:
• Operational limitations of crane operations
• Communication during crane operations
• Preparation and planning of crane operations
• Internal transport on the installation
• Loading and unloading supply vessels
• Transport of personnel
• Crane operation on various installations (fixed/ floating)

LEARNING PROCESS

This course is designed to enable crane operators/trainees on various installations the knowledge, understanding and skills within emergency situations of crane operations.

This is achieved through in-depth exercises on a full scale crane DNV GL Class A simulator, supported by a program of lectures and instruction.

The theory will cover communications, procedures, crane safety systems and operational scenarios at various installations during different weather conditions.

Offshore loading Phase 3

Course code: KOL-054
Course type: Classroom course
Duration: 26 hours
Language: English
Price: Not set

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The phase 3 course is a refresher course and focuses on experience exchange. The course repeats elements from the phase 2 with regards to handling shuttle tankers in close proximity to loading buoys.

The objective is to learn from the experiences of colleagues, and in such a way achieve optimal skills and understanding on how to handle a shuttle tanker in DP mode. The course participants will also be introduced to new developments within DP as for example reference systems, software versions, new loadingconcepts, updated procedures etc.

CONTENT

• Discussions on unwanted incidents involving shuttle tankers
• Focus on the proper use of procedures relating to diffferent oil fields and the use of DP checklists
• The latest development and statistics in Shuttle Tankers DP incidents
• The latest development of offshore loading manuals and development of new Oil fields
• The latest development of positions reference systems for DP and correct use of them
• Repetition of MCRM (Maritime Crew Recourse Management). Principles for teamwork
• The latest editions of competence requirements and guidelines

LEARNING PROCESS

All approaches to the loading buoys are carried out by using Dynamic Positioning Systems, according to procedures.

Simulations also include reconstruction of known DP incidents involving shuttle tankers. The complexity of these exercises will be based on the experience of the person “in charge” on the bridge simulator.

EXAM OBJECTIVES

This exam tests the skills and competence of a DPO against the requirements given in the competence standard DNV-GL Notation AJ/DPA-WV.

The examination is a thorough test to cover the most important competences for DPO’s irrespective of type of vessel, trade or activity. The test measures how well operation of equipment, duties and tasks are performed, all in compliance with relevant international, national and local regulations and requirements.

EXAM AND CERTIFICATION PROCESS

The test center will upon receipt of the application formsend a notification containing the following:

• Exam date and time
• Exam place
• Terms & conditions
• Recertification requirements
• DNV GL standard for certification ST-0023
• Standard for certification 0032, Appendix A: Examination regulations
• Time schedule for examination
