Who is the course for?

This course is for all staff on vessels subject to the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code).

 

Is previous experience required?

No previous experience is required to complete this course.

 

How will the course benefit me? 

This course will benefit staff by ensuring they have an understanding of the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code).

This course is built upon the assumption that you already have basic competence in fire prevention and fire fighting according to the STCW Code A-VI /1-2.

 

How will the course benefit my company? 

This course will benefit companies by ensuring their workforce have an understanding of the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code). This course is developed in accordance with IMO’s STCW Code section A-V/3.1. IMO Model Course 7.13 (2019 Edition).

 

What standards are referenced in the course?

IMO’s IGF Code Part A-1, specific requirements for ships using natural gas as fuel).

 

Is there an assessment? 

Yes - There is a formative assessment after each section, followed by a proctored summative assessment.

70% pass mark and unlimited attempts for the end of section formative assessments.70% pass mark and three attempts for the summative assessment.This course is STA accredited, however an approved certificate will ONLY be provided on payment of a fee (1000 SEK).

Course not applicable to anyone working onboard Norwegian flagged vessels, as practical training is required as well as e-learning to receive a NMA approved STCW certificate.
