This training course provides a general overview of the SOLAS requirements concerning radio communications and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

Objectives

On completion of the training, students will be able to:

Know the requirements concerning radio communication equipment on board ships and offshore units.

Understand the GMDSS functional requirements.

Understand the means required for GMDSS tests and drills on board.

Know the requirements for EPIRB, radio lifesaving appliances and sources of energy for radio communication equipment.

Certificate

On completion of the training program, the student will be awarded:

A Certificate of SOLAS Safety Radio, issued by Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore.

The Certificate of SOLAS Safety Radio is obtained after completion of the course and passing the online test.

Course Goal:

This course aims to provide an overview of managing hydrocarbon releases

This course covers the following learning objectives:

LO1 Describe the history of the hydrocarbon release risk reduction process

LO2 Describe safety instrumented systems

LO3 Describe the introduction of control of work procedures

LO4 Describe isolation procedures

LO5 Describe fire and gas detection systems

LO6 Describe hydrocarbon release reporting

LO7 Describe how different hydrocarbon fluids behave on release and describe how hydrocarbon mixtures may undergo a phase change

LO8 Explain the dangers of exposure to hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and identify the symptoms of H2S poisoning

LO9 Describe the range of leak rates that can occur with the different types of failure

Course Goal: This course is designed to enable all personnel to have a common and consistent approach to both company and industry best practice in relation to managing produced water.

This course contains 7 sections:

Section 1: Introduction to the Oilfield Water Cycle 

Section 2: Production Streams and Disposal Management 

Section 3: Produced Water Discharges - Environmental and Regulatory Requirements

Section 4: Produced Water Treatment Principles

Section 5: Produced Water Treatment Equipment

Section 6: Produced Water Chemical Management 

Section 7: Oilfield Water Cycle Summary

This course is taken externally on the Astutis platform, the delegate will receive a separate email from the provider with access details once this is processed by Astutis.

The enrolment will then be marked complete in Trainingportal once the course is passed.

• Positively influence health and safety culture and behaviour to improve performance in their organisation

• Do a general risk assessment in their own workplace – profiling and prioritising risks, inspecting the workplace, recognising a range of common hazards, evaluating risks (taking account of current controls), recommending further control measures, planning actions

• Recognise workplace changes that have significant health and safety impacts and effective ways to minimise those impacts

• Develop basic safe systems of work (including taking account of typical emergencies) and knowing when to use permit-to-work systems for special risks

• Take part in incident investigations

• Help their employer to check their management system effectiveness – through monitoring, audits and reviews
