Target group:

This course is aimed at all personnel working in the Oil and Gas Industry.


This course aims to provide learners with an awareness of the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and how they apply in the workplace.


Course content
-Explain what PUWER is and to whom and where it applies
-Identify the types of equipment to which PUWER applies
-Describe how PUWER relates to other health and safety legislation
-Identify the risks involved in working with equipment
-Explain the ‘suitability of work equipment’ requirement and the importance of risk assessment
-Explain the importance of training and instruction
-Describe the hierarchy of control and the precautions that should be taken when working with dangerous
-Explain the requirements for the stopping and starting of equipment
-Explain the requirement for isolation from sources of energy
-Describe the requirements for work involving mobile equipment
