| In the years ahead, the energy and oil industries will be working together more and more; gigantic plans for the development of offshore wind farms are the most recent example. It is crucial that these industries incorporate the best aspects of each other. This is the background for the 3rd annual Offshore and Energy HSE Conference, in Stavanger, March 9th-10th, 2010. See the programme at: www.offshore.no/hms.
Meeting at this conference are two industries in the midst of a realignment process and, with HSE as a backdrop, they will highlight business opportunities for both sectors. The energy industry has a long tradition in Norway, while the oil industry started its now 40-year history by implementing American standards. In an amazingly short time, the industry established procedural mechanisms grounded on Norwegian culture and mindset; and they didn’t just apply to contractual and business contexts, but also to health, safety, and environment. This has put the Norwegian oil industry and its suppliers among the world elite and has provided the foundation for significant technological advances, resulting, in turn, in export earnings.
The 3rd annual Offshore and Energy HSE Conference has gathered 15 prominent presenters from governmental authorities, operators and suppliers, such as Statoil, Statkraft, Energy Norway, Shell, Lyse Energy, Skagerak Energy, and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway. The goal is to put the concept of HSE into a larger context, which will also reflect future business opportunities. This is the first time such a conference has made such an exciting crossover and we have already received extremely positive feedback on the conference programme.
