- We want to strengthen and motivate companies to think positively and innovatively in this area, says Alfred Skår Hansen, head of HSE and quality in Gassco.

- They contribute thereby to a stronger focus on safety. Operating safely is the most important consideration for us, and major accidents must be avoided at all costs.

The award was made by Per-Atle Strømme, vice president for the transport network, during Gassco’s annual HSE&Q meeting at Haugesund’s Rica Maritim Hotel.

According to the citation, the PSI programme “encourages participants to become personally involved and to conduct safety checks.”

ConocoPhillips personnel on the B-11 compressor platform had no reported personal injuries or critical HSE incidents in the period from August 2006 to August 2009.

This performance was achieved despite major projects and daily operation with a high level of activity.

Focused on understanding risk and the personal responsibility of each individual, the PSI programme plays a key role in the company’s efforts to boost safety at its installations and plants.

- ConocoPhillips’ programme and the B-11 crew provide a very good example of the way good and long-term HSE results can be achieved, says Mr Strømme. - It’s important that we reward and highlight this work.

The B-11 installation stands in the German sector of the North Sea, south-east of the Ekofisk centre, and provides compression in the Norpipe gas line to Emden.

Gassco serves as operator for the platform, which belongs to the Gassled partnership, while ConocoPhillips is responsible for technical operation.
