When The Centre for Quality Control and Competence in the Petroleum Industry (PSK) was established, it was decided that a new PSK card would be implemented to replace the old OLF card.

This new PSK card employs new technology, making it a more robust card, with the intent of having at last for your entire career in the petroleum industry, in contrast to the OLF card, which had to be renewed every four years.

The PSK card will document the competence you have obtained through training that follows OLF’s curricula.  Currently, there are a series of courses on safety and emergency training, courses on packing load carriers, and courses on working on pressurised equipment.  This course portfolio will be expanded on an ongoing basis.

Everyone who completes a basic safety and emergency training course, or the refresher course, will receive a PSK card after completing the course.  Others, who complete courses registered in the PSK database, can be issued a PSK card if desired.  In such case, the card must be ordered and paid for through an approved course provider.  The card will be automatically updated when you complete and pass new courses.

New courses will be added to the PSK card on an ongoing basis as they are completed and passed.

During the transition period, there will be campaigns offering those who require the new PSK card the opportunity to have it issued at the course centres that provide safety and emergency training, when you participate in one of their other courses.

During the transition period, we will also register those who need a PSK card when they depart from helicopter terminals.

The new card will only contain a card number and the cardholder's name and address.  Each card will have a unique identity as well as its own username and password.

The database containing information about each individual's competence and a picture of the cardholder is web-based.  So, the cardholder will have access to their information through a username and password.  The cardholder will also be able to edit their personal information (address, mobile phone, and e-mail address).

No personal information, including the picture, will be printed on the card, but will be stored in the database.  This means that a lost card will have no value for anyone other than the cardholder; neither will anyone other than the cardholder be able to use a lost card.

In this new system, you will receive an SMS and/or e-mail when it is time for you to refresh one or several courses.  In order for individual cardholders to benefit from this new functionality, it's important that you check that the information about you in the database is correct.  Cardholders can edit their personal information (address, mobile phone, and e-mail).

If you lose your PSK card, you can requisition a new PSK card, by contacting the training centre where you completed your training the last time, or PSK.  You must cover the cost of a new card yourself.
