Talisman Energy Norway AS has awarded the contract for maintenance, modifications and operational support, for both the Gyda and Yme fields, to Sørco.  The contract, which runs to 2012, with an option for renewal, is worth approximately 300 million NOK.

Sørco has had similar a contract with Talisman for the Gyda field, since 2005.  For Sørco’s headquarters in Forus, the new contract represents a doubling of their workload for Talisman, and a significant expansion of their offshore organisation, both for campaign maintenance and operations on the Gyda and Yme fields.

“We are extremely pleased that Talisman chose Sørco as its contractor for operational support, maintenance, and modifications again.  This long-term relationship gives us a solid foundation for supporting Talisman’s operations in Norway,” says Frederik Hvistendahl, Managing Director at Sørco.  “We are also pleased that we can now expand the spectrum of our services, by supplying operators to the installations, in addition to the maintenance we already perform.”

In the contract with Talisman, Sørco will use companies in the Sørco Group for fabrication and offshore installation.  In addition, external partners and local contractors have been selected as sub-contractors.  This contract is highly significant for Sørco’s further development as a complete operations partner for oil companies with fields in operation.

Sørco AS is based in Stavanger and has 30 years of experience upgrading oil and gas installations in operation.  In recent years, the company has undergone significant growth and is now owned by the Sørco Group, which employs more than 1000 people on its various projects.
