Problems running courses with the newest version of Flash

In the latest versions of Flash; version 11.7.700.169, 11.7.700.179 and 11.7.700.202, there is a problem with the sound. This has consequences for running courses at Trainingportal; the users may experience problems with running the course.

While waiting for a solution from Adobe, we suggest the following solutions:

  • If you have not upgraded to the latest version of Flash, wait with this.
  • If you have already upgraded to the latest version of Flash, you can roll back to a previous version. Adobe suggest v10.3. This can be downloaded from the Adobe Flash Player FAQ.
  • If you have already upgraded to the latest version of Flash, try to run the course in Mozilla Firefox 12.0. So far we have not experienced any problems running newer courses in Firefox. For older courses, users can experience that the menu button for the course does not work, or that the course does not work at all.
  • You can also try to open the course, and then click the F11-button on your keyboard. This will in most cases start the course.

The problem does not apply to all courses, but unfortunately we have no complete list of courses that are affected.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact Trainingportal Support on 0047 24 15 55 55, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Why can't I open the course when I click on "Start course"/ the first module in the menu?

  • Internet Explorer probably has a pop-up blocker activated. The pop-up blocker will prevent an internet window to be opened from the existing window. Fnd out how to deavtivate the pop-up blocker here.

Why can't I see any content in the course? The course window just keeps loading.

  • Notice that you are required to use Windows Operative system and Internet Explorer.
  • If the course still doesn't start you probably don't have the software required to run the course installed. Information about the required software is listed in the course front page under Technical demands. Check computer settings to see if you have all the required software installed.

I can see the first page of the course, but I can't continue. Why?

  • The navigational buttons may not be visible. Try the three first suggestions in the next paragraph.
  • You might not be able to play MP3 files. The sound in the course will in that case be prevented from playing, and the course will not run. Take a MP3-test to see if that is the problem.
  • If you don't hear sound on the test above you will have to deactivate the MP3 blocking. In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet options > Security > Trusted sites > Sites and add www.trainingportal.no as a trusted site. If you do not have permission to change your settings please contact your local IT administrator.

I have downloaded all required software, so why doesn't the course start?

  • Sometimes it will be necessary to uninstall Flash or Shockwave Player and install the latest version. We recommend to uninstall from Adobes website Web Players. Notice that you have to choose uninstallment for Windows and Internet Explorer. Then Flash Player can be downloaded from here, and Shockwave Player from here. NB You con'n need both. Check which player you need on the course front page.
  • After uninstalling/installing you should restart your computer and then Check computer settings to see that the player is installed correctly.
  • If you need to download Xtra's you can download them here. If you can't download all the Xtra's, you can contact support.

How can I access my course certificate?

  • The course certificate will be available when all the modules in the course is completed.
  • You can see your course progression under Log. The whole course, or every module, must have a score of 100 for the course to be approved. You can also check the menu inside the course. The course menu is available by a button in the course window, in most cases in the lower left corner, and is marked with Menu or Index. The parts that are completed will be hooked. If some of the parts isn't hooked you will have to navigate to the uncompleted parts and complete them.
