Operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf require that their contractors have an HSE control system . "Norsok S-006 HSE evaluation of contractors" is the industry standard that describes the topics and methods used to evaluate and follow up a contractor’s HSE control system. The standard contains a list of questions that contractors need to answer to describe their level. The standard uses the following terms to describe each level:
A – Unacceptable
B - Poor
C - Acceptable
D - Excellent
Topic 3.4 in the Norsok standard places requirements on HSE training for new employees. The E-learning course "HSE for oil industry contractors" covers the element "knowledge of fundamental industrial HSE". If companies establish an additional program for course review, employees will receive the required updates described in the standard.
